Wines of Merritt Syrah
Max Allen of Gourmet Traveller says Wines of Merritt is producing “some of the best new wine from the region in recent years” - and when you make wine in Margaret River, that's some statement of praise! This Syrah has an enticing smoky nose, with a jumble of mixed red fruit - think wild strawberry and raspberries. It has a beautiful richness, with lines of those green peppercorn Margies Shiraz characteristics.
For the wine nerds: the fruit was sourced from Wilyabrup vines on deep sandy loam over gravel - the fruit was hand-picked, with a third left as whole bunches in open fermenters and foot trod daily. The remainder were de-stemmed onto a layer of more whole bunches in a larger vessel for wild ferment and pumped over daily. Aged beautifully in a small tank (30%) and old French hogsheads (70%), and bottled unfined & unfiltered.

Bahen & Co Organic Milk Chocolate x 75g
Bahen & Co makes elegant stone ground chocolate from bean to bar, a traditional approach to chocolate making that returns to a slower pace of a previous time. Made with Madagascan cacao from the Somia Plantation, and combined with organic milk, the combination is distinctively creamy with notes of caramel & shortbread.
